Loss and Recovery: God is a God of Recovery!

LOSS and RECOVERY

Did you know that God (Jesus Christ) is a God of RECOVERY?

God wants to restore to His faithful ones the good things that were lost, or the good things that might have been but never were.

Loss could be anything:

Loss of a spouse to death

Loss due to abandonment leading to divorce.

Loss due to being cheated on, leading to divorce.

Loss of a fiance or engagement. (never got married)

Loss of a dream from the Lord. (When we can no longer dream because nothing ever seems to happen.)

Loss of potential relationships that never developed.

Loss of health

Loss of property

Loss of friends.

Loss of family.

Keep God as God in your life (Jesus Christ).
It is important that we never elevate any of these categories above Him.

And yet as a faithful disciple and servant of Christ who is saved in the blood of Jesus, we can experience RESTORATION!!

You CAN dream again. Dare to. God is able to do even more than what you dream.

God is a God of restoration, and if He can lead me on a path to restoration, He can lead you too.

Now to be clear, NOT ALL Christian Singles need recovery or healing.

Some Christian adult singles are godly, healthy, and strong without a spouse. They are NOT single due to loss. They are single because they choose to be and because the Lord led them to be single. There is NOTHING WRONG with Godly singleness. Jeremiah and Paul even practiced Godly singleness, as did the Lord Jesus while He walked on the earth! These men of God suffered loss, but not because of singleness. So it is VERY IMPORTANT that we do not antagonize godly singleness itself. Paul calls both marriage and singleness gifts. (Refer to 1 Cor. 7:7)

But for any of you godly Christian singles who are single BECAUSE OF the pain of LOSS, any loss,
this message is for you.
Many times, a season of loss is actually only one part of the larger process of recovery! It is important to seek the Lord yourself to gain understanding of the Lord's will on this.

Let's look at what God says about recovery in the Bible, remembering that God's nature and compassion never changes. He is always the same:

Luke 4:18 NKJV
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;

Leviticus 25:10 NKJV
And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee for you; and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family.

1 Samuel 7:14 NKJV
Then the cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron to Gath; and Israel recovered its territory from the hands of the Philistines. Also there was peace between Israel and the Amorites.

1 Samuel 30:8 NKJV
So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?” And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.

1 Samuel 30:19 NKJV
And nothing of theirs was lacking, either small or great, sons or daughters, spoil or anything which they had taken from them; David recovered all.

Isaiah 38:9 NKJV
This is the writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick and had recovered from his sickness:

Job 42:10-11 NKJV
10 And the Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.
11 Then all his brothers, all his sisters, and all those who had been his acquaintances before, came to him and ate food with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for all the adversity that the Lord had brought upon him. Each one gave him a piece of silver and each a ring of gold.

Mark 16:18 NKJV
they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.

1 Cor. 7:27-28 NKJV
27 Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek to be loosed. Are you loosed from a wife? Do not seek a wife. 28 But even if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. Nevertheless such will have trouble in the flesh, but I would spare you.

1 Cor 7:27-28 CEB
27 If you are married, don’t get a divorce. If you are divorced, don’t try to find a spouse. 28 But if you do marry, you haven’t sinned; and if someone who hasn’t been married gets married, they haven’t sinned. But married people will have a hard time, and I’m trying to spare you that.

God is a God of recovery. He wants to heal and restore, in His perfect time.

Ecclesiastes 3:6a "A time to gain, And a time to lose;"

God is healing and restoring me to a place of marriage. It took plenty of time... yet it was in God's time.
For me, it has been nearly 13 years since I suffered the loss of abandonment/divorce. But now I am being restored. That restoration is not INSTANT! It is indeed an ongoing PROCESS.... so patience and cheerful endurance is needed! In fact, people do not realize that God's process of restoration begins before you even realize or see that He has begun to restore you!!

Isaiah 65:24 NKJV
“It shall come to pass That before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear.

If you dream of being married in the Lord to a godly spouse, seek The Lord Jesus and ask Him to restore that dream to you. He loves you and seeks to give the Father the glory in all that He does in your life. Remember you are working for Jesus in His kingdom and you were saved by pure grace, through faith. So continue to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. God is the One who provides for us.

Give yourself to Christ and to following Him. He will do the work of restoration when the time comes.

I recently changed the logo and header picture on that page to reflect the developments of this ministy as I get closer to being married this year!

The new expanded focus for the page is "PLUS+: Loss and Recovery". I hope this blog entry helps to explain why we are moving the page and ministry to singles in this direction.

God is the God of RECOVERY!

God bless you!
